This was truly a great shock to me after finishing the lastest instalment of Harry Potter. Professor Dumbledore had been always the support for Harry Potter, in times of his need. Furthermore, he was the only powerful wizard who dared to stand against Lord Voldemort. Yet, J.K.Rowling had arranged him to die in such a manner that did not do this wise character justice.

The truth to be spoken, Rowling had from the beginning of the plot, set a rather grim scene for Professor Dumbledore, in which he had appeared before Harry Potter with an injuried arm that could never be cured. Then with the appointment of Professor Snape as the new teacher of Defence Against the Dark Arts, I was nearly convinced that the great Professor Dumbledore had been put under Imperius Curse (one curse that controls the person). But in the end, everything boils down to a simple case of a horribly misplaced trust.

When reading through how Professor Dumbledore had been outwitted by a mere sixteen year old kid - Malfoy Draco, I was totally caught off-guard. How could Professor Dumbledore missed that point? A point that Harry Potter had so desperately tried to convince everyone he could trust! This little slip, plus the unexpected event in which Professor Dumbledore was weakened considerably, had resulted in Malfoy's success in disarming him. The rather sad moment where Professor Dumbledore had pleaded with Snape after realizing that Harry Potter had been correct all along (Harry Potter firmly believed that Snape is up to no good, and still loyal to Lord Voldemort), showed the helpless side of this old but wise Professor, whose sole mistake of trusting that Snape had really been remorseful about what he had done, caused him his life. He had died without the chance to defend himself. How could a character like him been given such treatment? I hated this ending for Professor Dumbledore.

Maybe Rowling is just setting the mood and pace for the upcoming final book (I think so...), giving Harry Potter a better reason to show his hatre towards Snape (the Half Blood Prince - shocking right?), and the desire to hunt him down along with Lord Voldemort. Maybe...

But generally, this dark and informative sixth instalment (as a lot about Lord Voldemort was unfolded) was gripping and intense. Rowling had in a way guided readers through Harry Potter's growth, showing how he had dealed with problems rather close to every child's heart (like scoring for exams, shining as a leader, boy girl relationship...blahblahblah...the list goes on). With the mystery of who is R.A.B, and with Harry Potter embarking on the journey to search for Lord Voldemort, I just can't wait to read the next book. I bet Snape would have an important part to play in killing Lord Voldemort. Things are going to get very exciting now... (^o^)

By the way, the DIP is definitely killing me (driving me crazy with almost nothing to do...). Hope that I would manage to stay alive and kicking, and see this through no matter what. Pray for me!! (4 more dreadful weeks to go...)

PS: I am going to start work next week too, hope this would help to take my mind off the DIP...
